Founder & Pilot
Ryan has been interested in aviation for as long as he can remember. He started flying airplanes when he was 18 in his home town of Santa Cruz California. Ryan moved to Hawaii in 2011 where he gained another decade of experience flying and maintaining helicopters. Ryan does not like to have mayo on his sandwitches, so if you decide to bring him one please keep that in mind.
Founder & Pilot
Alex moved to Hawaii from Russia in 2009 and started his aviation carrier shortly after by becoming a fixed-wing (airplane) pilot. Several years later he purchased his first helicopter with an intention to learn how to fly it and possibly moving on. Instead of moving on, he fell in love with flying. Soon after Alex met Ryan (owner) and a year later they decide to start their own helicopter tour company. In his free time Alex enjoys skydiving, surfing, and photography. Alex can not tolerate word “moist”, and may start crying if you say it.
Stefan is from Switzerland had a 12 year career in IT before he pursued his childhood dream as a helicopter pilot. Before he started his pilot career he traveled the US cross country and visited over 35 states. He landed in Hawaii and fell in love with the place, people and culture and set up his roots here.
Upon completion of his Instrument Instructor License, he moved to California to teach helicopter pilot students. However, soon after an
opportunity to be a tour pilot in Hawaii opened and he returned home. Stefan loves to fly on the islands and show tourist the local beauty of the islands. He has discovered that helicopter tours are often on clients buckets lists, and he loves to fulfill peoples dreams.
Stefan enjoys travel, history, culture ,food and languages. He especially enjoys sharing his knowledge about Hawaii. He can speak English and German/Swiss German. Stefan is terrified of bananas, so please do not bring any on your flight.
Jim has been with Honolulu Helicopter Tours since day one. Jim’s career started over 8,400 flying hours ago and has achieved the coveted status of being a FAA Part 135 instructor pilot in addition to being a Certified Flight Instructor Instrument Rated CFII. He flew for the Television News here locally and has taught numerous aspiring pilots how to fly helicopters, helping earn their Helicopter pilots rating. Jim has lived in the islands for decades and has flown on Oahu, Maui, Molokai, Lanai and the Big Island.
Margot started flying gliders before she could drive. At 25 she bought her own airplane to fly for fun. A few years later she had her first helicopter flight and was immediately hooked. After working as a scientist for 7 years, she decided to change careers and go to helicopter school. Margot obtained her flight instructor ratings and spent a year in South Korea instructing students.Margot is passionate about flying and loves to share the beauty of the island.
